People often overlook or ignore the fact that the decepticons did win the war. The decepticons in the first movie: Blackout, Bonecrusher, Brawl, were all true decepticon warriors. Frenzy was a minicon, and Barricade lost to Bumblebee. But those three big boys showed just how much stronger the decepticons were. Blackout made a killer entrance to the franchise. And he took out Ironhide in a quick skirmish. Like he owned him. Plus he was ready to go fight Optimus prime. Bonecrusher actually did do it. This man full-on tackles Optimus and never tried to retreat. Yeah, he lost, but still, who else besides Megatron or any other villian did that? And Brawl? This man fought off 3 autobots and several humans. The only other characters to be ganged up on by multiple autobots and humans were Shockwave and Sentinel. Even without Megatron or other big players, these 3 demonstrated just how powerful and aggressive the decepticons were. And who did these monsters answer to? The big M himself. If Optimus and the autobots were stronger than Megatron and the decepticons, the movies wouldn't have even happened. Because the autobots would've won

Fun factor: Bumble Bee lasted longer fighting nemesis prime(and he was holding back) than he did fighting lockdown

When the autobots first came to earth to go into hiding they should have all scanned PeelP50's, no one would ever guess that that's an autobot 😭🙏 Just imagine iron hide rolling up to a fight in one of those😭🙏

Magatron 2007 was literally the top transformer in cybertron sentinel even Optimus fear him but when he revived he was never the same

*IMPORTANT EXPLANATION* Now I am not saying that Megatron single-handedly won the War. But Sentinel either eventually realized or knew from the start that the Autobots were doomed because of Megatron being on their (the Decepticons) side. As I said most of the regular soldiers were not good, Megatron carried the Decepticons to victory. Shockwave and Starscream were also factors as well, but not nearly as much as Megatron. Also, the Autobots immediately retreated when they saw Megatron in TF1 (except Jazz). They knew none of them even stood a chance against him because he is so powerful. Optimus also said “If I cannot defeat Megatron…” so even Optimus Prime had some doubts he could beat him. Think about it, no one could stop Megatron during the War, not Optimus, not Sentinel. And Megatron was just "having fun" and still won the War! A video is also coming out in a day about why Megatron’s 2007 form is his peak so stay tuned for that. Or maybe even subscribe 😉?

If he had kept the look at the end of ROTF (after ejecting the cannon and afterburner backpack from Jetfire), and combined it with his prime mode, he would have been a very strong enemy for the Decepticons to handle. Those extra parts had given him some overall beefiness that could have been helpful (such as more durability).

If Optimus was able to do a 1 vs 3 during Forest Battle. Sentinel would defeat those 3 decepticons instantly and ended Bayformers in just 2 movie 😅

I still think prime mode is stronger especially if you included his flying pack and I think prime modes design is still a bit better

Superman, Prime is cold for most of his appearances after g1 "primes never party" yet Superman has no issue insuring Batman and Matian Manhunter know the warmth of a good Christmas. Prime is awesome, an incredible hero, to be sure, but Superman is more heroic.

In Transformers Prime, Sentinel Prime's equivalent character, I dont remember the exact name, was not a prime in the same way optimus was because he never possesed the matrix of leadership. In Transformers Prime the matrix is a lot more important.

The reason he was stronger in tf2 was because he was uber charged by his pocket medic and became a lime green scout and a trolgier main

Sentinel used to be a prime after all, if we exclude every theory about him not being a real prime. To be a prime is to have a high moral code they follow. Keep in mind that these movies are thousand of years in during the war (if im correct). Everyone couldn’t correct right between wrong and desperate measures were taken. I believe that although Sentinel did become the thing he hated the most, did it out of pure despair too choose to side with the decepticons to save the future of Cybertron. And i believe he regretted turning against Optimus. Who i believe was like a son to him. He probably helped Optimus a lot through his beginning stages of being a prime. Not to discard his moral code and him siding with “war criminals”. In this moment he believed that violence against his student wasn’t necessary.

You make some great points. However I think you should've only used TFP and G1 Optimus Prime footage mainly because Bayverse prime is just Very Violent and doesn't at all act like Optimus. The real Optimus would never say "I'll Kill them" in any way. Optimus is meant to be an influential, brave, Humble, and most of all compassionate Character, not a character driven on Violence and Anger.

Optimus's characteristic depends on the writers bruv, every continuity has a different interpretation, tfa optimus is a weak autobot with powerful spirit, tfp's serious most of the time, beast wars...... I honestly don't know but you get the point.

I thought it was to one lead Optimus away from the pillars and two sentinel is the only one who can control them so Optimus probably wanted to use him to shut it down instead of destroying it as it could still be useful for the auto bots to potentially return home
