HOW MUCH FASTER ARE THEY? Yokohama AD08R Vs Yokohama A050
Lap comparison between two of Yokohamas flagship tyres.
The AD08R and A050. Clearly the A050 is a much faster tyre being a proper race tyre verses the AD08R which is a performance street tyre, and the difference on track really showed.
Both sets of tyres were 245/45R17. The A050s were medium compound.
Both laps are the fastest laps I managed to achieve on each tyre but were on different days.
Towards the end of the AD08R's life, times had dropped about 1.5 - 2 seconds. The tyres never wore out but did blister and go hard through heat cycles and constantly got slower.
The A050's stayed fairly fast throughout there life. I managed to equal the quickest time I'd done even after several track...

S chassis Front control arm bush removal
Просмотров 224 года назад
This is the easiest way Ive found to remove the bushes from the front control arms of an S chassis. Because of the open bottom design of the control arm, it can cause issues when using a press or press like tool to try to push the bush out. This simple method ensures that the control arm remains free of any damage or being bent.
S Chassis Rear Subframe bush install

A quick video showing the install of Poly bushes into an S13 rear subframe. Some lube and a quick clamp is all it took, but it can be quite difficult to get the bush on the under side to go in.

Yokohama AD08r v Nankang NS2r

Lap comparison between the Yokohama AD08R v the Nankang NS2r at Mallala Motor sport park. The laps were on two different days and because my old trusty Gopro Hero stopped working in between the two track days, it also shows the difference in quality between the original Gopro hero and the later model Hero5. Both cameras set to 1080p and 30fps.
Just stumbled across yout videos when looking for tyre choices for my s13. Do you mind sharing a spec of your car if you dont mind? Power/turbo spring rates etc, keen to take my car to the track after serving years drifting haha
How is the shoulder on the A050 compared to the AD08R? The AD08R is very square. I was thinking of going up in size from 235/40/17 to a A050 245/40/17. I'm really close to rubbing on a 8.5"/40/17 wheel on my MX5 ND2. I could get away with a 5m growth in height and girth but if the A050 runs narrow with rolled shoulders I could get away with it.
Are they both squealing?
Did you ever tried G/s compound?
No just the medium compound. After this I went to Hankook slicks.
Ready for sa time attack next year then lol testing tyres haha
No just comparisons of the tyres I've tried over the years. Depending on the rules I may enter it next year thought.
Nankang сила 💪!! 🤗
The ns-2r is 180, the adwan is 200.. and double priced.. if ur going for the fastest lap.. there are faster tires than this 2. But price i think the ns-2r are some of the best if u look for the best lap/value pr money
Non è un paragone giusto questo
Why?
Haha is that the Keiichi Model wheel?!
Ha yeah it is
@@steele2223 I just got mine second handed fairly recently. I find it a bit discomforting for drifting since I normally use a 350mm Momo Modena
sad you can't buy the AD08R anymore. Just the RS which is way worse. :( (Now looking for a tire replace them)
What is worse about it? I plan to get some A050s to give a proper motorsport tyre a try next. It will be interesting to feel the difference in grip.
@@steele2223 new EU regulation, so it's not as soft etc.. :/
wow! mallala! weird stumbling onto my local track while looking at tyre reviews... i really hated the ns2r tyre, but i loved the AR1 and the Fed RS-RR around lala
I also hated the NS2R. The AD08r is ok but I do want to get a proper track tyre on the car now. I have heard a lot of good things about the AR1. How did your lap times compare between the 3 tyres you listed?
hard to give you a definitive answer, but i went a bit over 5 seconds faster on the AR1s from the NS2Rs at tailem bend on a similar setup on the same car and same tyre size. Ive run Feds and AR1s at mallala, and they are very close, but the AR1s are slightly faster. probably around half a second faster. which is heaps at lala. im no pro though, and my cars are always changing. im about to do some runs in a stock standard i30n, so that should so some good comparisons on the tyres.
Nice lap! Bit of a pain with the 5's, if you can set the camera up and spot meter the windscreen and then leave it on or it resets. It then takes the exposure from the windscreen rather than interior. Hope that helps!
Hi. What do you mean by "and spot meter the windscreen"? Thanks
@@steele2223 if you put your finger on the screen it creates a little box, you can drag that around the screen and set where you want the camera to take its exposure setting from. Set that box on the windscreen and lock it and you'll see the track much better in videos. Google probably has better instructions!
@@neilkinsey8523 Thanks for the info. I will give that a go next time.
Hell yeah Dude, mint lap !! the car looks heaps more settled then last time :)
nice comparison video! i like the 180! were these 120 treadwear or 180 treadwear NS2R?
Thanks, They were the 120 Treadwear
I see. I was considering ns2rs but I think I’ll opt for Hankook rs4s now. Most of the cars at austimeattack at wakefield we’re running them along with AD08rs
I wouldn't waste money on the NS2R (As cheap as they are). The RS4s are supposed to be really good, as are the Nankang AR1, I haven't used ether personally but friends have given good reviews of both.
@@steele2223 so you didn't like the NS2R?
@@TheTranfan for the track no. They do not have much grip and do not handle heat well. I would never buy them again for a track orientated car. The AD08R is a much better tyre.
Interesting
well fuck. that makes me regret buying the nankang haha
😂
Thank you for the comparison. The tyres are in the same size? NS2-R are in 120 or 180 treadwear?
Can you give advice which tire could be better for road + track days using? ad08r 50% more expensive. does it make sense to buy it? thanks
I guess that depends on what you're really looking for out of a tyre. Personally I don't drive the car on the road, so could have gone for a full track only semi slick, i.e. the Yoko 050, but that was double the price again over the ad08r. Since I haven't driven ether tyre on the road I can't comment on that side of things, but for the track the ad08r was well worth the extra money over the NS2r. It had far superior grip and much better feel on the track.
