I just had this same thing happen and was having a hard time getting the spring reattached as well. Figured out that you can actually do it without removing the side plate. Turn on the machine so that the throwing mechanism is at the highest point (as in, having just thrown a ball) and shut it off. That will remove all the tension from the spring, and you can then attach the rod and have enough room to push it through the hole and thread the knob back on.

This might be a dumb question but do you get the show on the other side to ?
Not a dumb question at all. Its reversed.. There is an option on the dashboard to flip it though so you can choose which side to view the show.
Attach the connector to the spring , then attach the knob, take about 10 seconds and don’t have to take it apart
Please make a video of this then lol. This is impossible. I’m trying it now.
I almost made a catapult to launch this thing into the next town. LOL .. I made this video for those of us out there who enjoy taking our time and lasting longer than 10 seconds..

Awesomeness and sorry for the late reply. Yes! I read a couple reviews where people said it was a nightmare dealing with customer service and replacing it.. 100% design flaw. Im happy it helped you out..
Don't buy these if you plan on using more than one or want to use them outdoors. Each curtain is powered by a giant 110v power brick. They advertise linking three together, but you have to give each curtain it's own separate power supply - not just connecting functions via an app. Don't get these if you care about a clean install. If you want to run more than one, you'll have extension cords all over the place. C'mon Govee, you should have designed these with the capability to actually connect them physically together. Curtain lights draw very low power, and these could have been USB, which would allow you to connect everything to an outdoor solar power bank.
So what alternative do you suggest?
Valid reply! Yes I agree with 95% of this as an ol school AV geek. This is a great alternative though to those of us who don't have the time anymore to wire up a pi + pixel setup. You can have a clean install with these and I could have ran everything through the wall. I just wanted a quick single window solution for the holidays that was plug and play. For the price and time (when I finally got it right), its totally worth it. Sure, it could be better in many ways, and I also hate the individual power per Curtain, but they have something to work towards in the next version.. (Hopefully) ha!

Thanks for the video any regrets with the exposed cables!? I need 200 feet and the pro is $700 .. I was quoted $4500 for 200 Sq feet trimlight .. a lot more money but permanent look with tracks I’m so torn of Govee are worth it
I wanted to go that route when I was wiring my cameras, then I got to a point where it just made more sense to go with Govee. I have 5 different exterior Govee products and its just better to create a single custom scene that can be played across all 5 products (with 3 more on the way).. I get the no visible wiring aspect though. It all comes down to what your overall goal is.. Mine is to Govee my entire house.. 😆
