Thanks for your recollection. 65 year old lifetime fan of The Cure here. Robert's music, lyrics, wit, intelligence, empathy and unique personality have been a huge part of my life. Only saw them once in '96 and finally got to see them again the other night. For a 64 year old his voice is remarkably intact and the band is fantastic. I really enjoyed your remembrance of the encounter with Robert. Your story pretty much confirms my perception of him as a cross between a music hall vaudevillian and a Baudelaire impersonater. And it's absolutely hilarious that you don't really care for his music or the band yet he was charming and gracious - even if he didn't follow your scrunchie request. Well played indeed!

They are so creative and have made some great music. I chuckled to hear that Prince used Magic shaving powder and Caress soap😁.

I'm a long-time fan of Hugo, and someone who's found his music and public interactions a very affirming and comforting part of my life for nearly a decade. I've noticed this divide in his work, this hyper-meticulous precision-driven persona for his work, and this more, intimate human side of him on live streams or in the occasional interview where he actually lets loose a little. I've wondered for a while if his long documented love for daft punk, and especially how it affects his stage show and such, means that he tries to make madeon something more, rehearsed and mythical, I'd love to see a little more of the imperfect side of hugo shine through in his next works, and I really hope he's doing well in general, his fans care about him deeply. Thanks for this glimpse into our favourite frenchman :P

What an interesting video! It's so fascinating to see more into the other side of Hugo to know what he's going through. I too hope he someday reveals more of his personal life. The level of highs and lows he experiences seems extreme and this makes his music very interesting to listen to, as well as him as a person.

Spent probably about a dozen nights in Sashas company He’s a good friend of two of my very good friends Jon and Barry Went to fabric in September and loved it 7 hours and Sasha gave me a little nod and that enchanting smile as I was bouncing around to his tunes Love the lad love his achievements and his non judgemental way of making me feel welcome Great lad my last 30 odd years would’ve been different without him ❤️

I really enjoyed listening to this. I would love to hear an interview with Optical and Ed Rush, with you discussing the formative years of your friendship. I’ve been listening to Optical since the early 90’s, and when, with Ed Rush, they started Virus Recordings, I was an acolyte of their sound. The Wormhole album… well, you can listen to it today, almost 25 years on, and it sounds fresh and futuristic. It’s timeless. I remember watching Optical play at Warning in Cambridgeshire… he dropped “Alien Girl”, and while the place exploded, he looked so humble and happy. My face, on the other hand, was contorted, complete with a sweaty brow, and uncontrollable limbs!
