So glad I moved here from the DC area ten years ago. I live in a home that would cost millions there that cost 300,000 with 2 acres. I’m close enough to dc, ny, the Atlantic beaches to go for the day or a show and still drive home no hotel needed. Low IQ shock hasn’t worn off yet tho. I didn’t realize how privileged I was to have many more intelligent people around. The ethnic food is limited. Miss those things a lot.

Lancaster is beautiful. Farms, fields, and quaint towns. But, it's very quiet and boring. I imagine it would be a good place to grow old in . After living in Lancaster for a few years it would be a lot easier to die.

Family Law judges are the worst, if you are a man with children, stay away. Real Estate companies put out a blurb about it being one of the ten best places to live. That was a scam. There is a lot of farm ground there, and they wanted to raise the land values, destroy the farm land, build a bunch of crap urban sprawl, which they have now done. Traffic is now horrendous, many of the local attractions have now folded, and giving way to appartments, senior living, and strip malls. It is not at all what it used to be.

Sorry. Live in Lebanon county. In Lancaster often. It has become too built up to maintain its once idealic attraction. Lebanon, Adams, and Cumberland counties are suffering the same fate. Never mind the regular violence reported out of Lancaster City proper on a near daily basis

Be careful comparing PA summers to Florida's. I lived in Twp for 20 years, then Warwick for another 20 before moving to Melbourne, FL. The highest dewpoint I ever experienced in PA was probably 78. As I write this, the DP here is 79. I'd never experienced a DP in PA of 80, much less the 85 it gets to here occasionally. I understand the temptation to compare Lancaster humidity to Florida's, because your summertime DPs can rival the typical summer DPs here. However, as we know, 'normal' or 'average' weather are just like speed limits: suggestions. Just as it's not 88°/68° every single day in July there, there are many times here the DP is way above normal. This happens when one is surrounded on three sides by ocean waters in the 90s and 100s (!) toward late summer. In PA, we consider a DP of 65 to be sticky, 70 to be muggy, and 75 to be downright oppressive. Here, 70 is totally comfortable even without a breeze, and 75 isn't that bad with the typical breezes that comes with the sea breeze and storm outflow boundaries. But make no mistake; you haven't seen humid until you've been outside with an 85° dewpoint, when condensation appears on the exterior of the windows on your 78° AC'ed home (enough that it drips and runs), where stepping INTO a sauna to cool off sounds like a superb idea. BTW, the all-time record high DP in Melbourne, FL is 90°.

Lancaster property is VERY pricey! Pick another county!

Hi Matt, I think it might be helpful to do a video comparison of cost of living between Lancaster, York and Chester Counties.

The weather doesn't change that quickly in Lancaster. I'm not sure where that idea comes from. I lived in Colorado. The weather here is very stable in comparison. The weather in summer, though, is pretty awful.

Please do not call it the South of the North. I have never heard that, as a native. Polite, respectful and good conversation is it, and that is not southern.

Lancaster was one of 7 counties that chose the Ultra MAGA Senate candidate Kathy Barnette over Oz and McCormick in the 2022 Republican primary. Needless to say Lancaster is one of the most conservative counties in PA so expect to live among many Trump flag adorned homes.

The people aren't friendly. If you are not born there for a few generations you will never be accepted fully. Drive through Mt. Joy and it stinks like they spread human fecal matter year round. It isn't just a few days as he says. Lancaster city has become more liberal and more welcoming in recent years. Don't believe this liar he is obviously only out for homself.

I grew up in Lancaster County (1943-1965) and then moved back (2001-2009) where I served as a County Social Worker. Lancaster City has all sorts of social problems and is not highly regarded as a place to live (outlying communities like Manheim Township, etc. have a better reputation). I learned more about the city and county as a social worker than I did growing up. Three suggestions for would-be city residents: (1) accept the Latino culture and conservative religious influences; (2) enjoy things like Central Market, rides in the country and don't get turned off by the Amish tourist traps, but (3) most of all, you'll never find better health care than you will at Lancaster General Hospital's facilities (assuming you have good health insurance).

Lame caster can not hide the truth. The weather is terrible. Air pollution and water pollution is terrible. Crime is rampant now no fault of officers. The leadership is completely corrupted by the same attorneys on constant rotation that sold out the area’s quality of life.

Lancaster is a woke city run by an irrational city gov 28% poverty, homelessness, the city is trying to remake neighborhoods with fancy names, but the Streets are dirty, blocked by crazy pylons, no real industry but plenty of bars, schools are bad, and taxes.high.
