(Found Footage) Hurricane Katrina Waveland Mississippi. This was filmed on the corner of Hwy-90 and Hwy 603 at the Coast Inn & Suites. Part four of six. This is a random video that was given to me after the storm. I don't know these folks, so I apologize for their language (and terrible sense of humor). Still, I thought the video needed to be shared due to the vivid account of one of the worst ...

August 29th 2023 marks 18 years since hurricane katrina make landfall in new orleans
Wow. This is insane. Now you go to Waveland and this Motel property is being demolished slowly. They’re still not done with it.
They still haven’t done anything with that building.
It's gone now!
Yeah, saw that earlier this year when I was down there. Wondering what might be put there next.
I've driven by this place so many times I had no clue people weathered the hurricane trapped there damn
I just don't get it. They had cars there from the way they were talking. Why in the world did they not go north before the storm hit? Even going east to Mobile would've been a much better option than staying in Miss. They could've at least saved their vehicles.
I think people used the measurements from Camille in 69. Next time will be different.
I hope so. It's just such a waste to stay and have the surge destroy everything you own. If you leave, you can at least save whatever you take with you like your cars and clothes.
@@FluffberryMcstuffins My aunts neighbor said something along those line. My aunt lived off of lower bay road. In all the time she lived there. They never had flooding. Tommy her neighbor lived in the area during Camille. He said flooding was never an issue back there then.
Hey avssuc2. Did you film these videos? I'm a producer with the Weather Channel and would like to talk to you about showcasing some of these on an upcoming show. Can you email me ASAP at sabrina.hawkins.contractor@weathergroup.com and I will give you details. Thanks!
I sent you an email.
Crazy mate. Wow. I pass that area every week on my commute to work into Biloxi.
Yea, this is the one video I've found that really shows the power of Katrina. Since you pass over the Hwy 90 and 603 intersection, you know how far from the beach this area is, so I'm sure you can see it too.
This video is amazing. Happy you made it out safely. I'm a producer with the Weather Channel and we would like to showcase a portion of this video. Please email me at sabrina.hawkins.contractor@weathergroup.com and I will give you more details.

My house is about 3 miles north of that hotel. The crazy thing is that this hotel is 6 or 7 miles from the beach or Bay. It is Hwy 90, the commercial route. So 7 miles from the storm surge, they are probably 15 ft above sea Llevel, and still have 10-15 feet of flooding.....our Emergency Ops Center was 12 miles inland and they had to evac in a hurry to 2nd floor from 17 ft of surge!
Thanks for adding to the story here, Maggie, I'm always interested in hearing more from the people that lived it. I hope you and your family are doing well now.
@@FluffberryMcstuffins we confirmed 32ft surge at our Shoreline Park home, which was SORTA standing, minus deck and stairs. The surge rose quietly, not battering like the coastline. It churned the furniture from room to room-surreal. My daughter's lacy curtains and awards still hung like nothing happened. We tore it down and rebuilt a strong home on the bayou. We fled to the Smokies for 7 months, came home. Thanks for posting this-a dear friend just lost everything in Michael. She said she didn't have a clue til she went thru it....a club noone wants to be in, right? Hope you are well and thank you for your service and repping Mississippi!
@@maggieking6619 that's both tragic and awe inspiring. Again, thank you for sharing.
Maggie King did you all come back to Mississippi, I stay in central Mississippi but want to live on the coast, I just don’t want this to happen to my home if I do
It's 2 miles from the Gulf
The only way
My home
It is interesting at the end, why were they bothering with the jet ski like you said in the video instinctual maybe. thank's for posting the video, I saw a picture that circulated around, taken from this location it is crazy seeing the video. Awesome seeing the people rescuing other people with their boats.
Yea, why the jetski, why at that moment? Funny stuff.
I was there last night and it was, as usual, a truly phenomenal show. I really hope more videos from last night's show pop up here on RUclips. QUESTION: what was the opening song of the second set? Good lawd, that was an amazing tune.
Ivan Lendl , couldn't tell ya, I was heavy into the drink by then. Absolutely wonderful show though. Did you see the mayor there?
time to go swimming, lolllllllllll
Are they looting?
No, they were walking around taking a look at the damage. The young lady who shot, and narrated, most of these six videos lived in an apartment very near by, and had gone to the hotel to ride out the storm. This is the 5th in a series of 6 videos, in case you missed that.
Well the person who uploaded them states in the description there are six, but I'm only finding 5.
