First try at a long-format lens repair video, working on a dented Pentax-M 80-200mm zoom lens. I'd love feedback on this format; I used a voice-over instead of talking during filming. Moto Guzzi Breva 750 - Head Guard Installation
Просмотров 8222 года назад
Here's a short video going over the steps to install head guards onto a Moto Guzzi Breva 750. Below is the link to the sellers Ebay page, where these head guards and others can be purchased. www.ebay.com/usr/hunter8500?_trksid=p2047675.m3561.l2559 And here is a link to my blog where you can find more detailed photos of the head guards: jujumakesit.blogspot.com/2022/09/moto-guzzi-breva-750-head-...
Interesting and informative video, but as a newbie I'm unfamiliar with most of the greases and solvents that you mention. A search on the auction site for 'white laquer stick' for example, proved fruitless. Enlightenment please. Thank you.
My Pentax Super Program is having issues with the mirror. When I use it normally, the mirror gets stuck and jams the shutter and basically the whole mechanism. However, if I hold the mirror up, I can shoot normally without any problems at any speed. Do you think I need to open it and check the mirror and the shutter curtain?
@@YeidaXR It's a difficult camera to access the mirror box, so if you are having issues then it may be more worth finding a new camera. The issue is almost never the shutter, rather the linkage between the mirror box and the shutter. The Super Program is an excellent camera when fully functional but once you start having problems, it's much more difficult to service than an ME Super, for example.
Very informative, perfect step by step. I'm thinking about doing something fun with my super A, any tips on getting the plastic counter window and skylight windows out?
@@Pifferfish Thank you, I'm glad you enjoyed the video! Most adhesives can be softened with mild heat; I'd start there. Unfortunately post-K1000 Pentax cameras have plastic covers, so you'll want to be careful not to overheat it to the point where you damage the cover. Good luck!
Muy completa esta explicacion ,un profesional .Un saludo desde España.
Muchas gracias 🥰
Great ,great work ,thank you for this video.
@@tilica5353 You're welcome, I'm glad you enjoyed it!
Great video. I appreciate it when people go into more detail with the mechanisms, explaining what they do and how they interact with other parts of the camera. It's a much more wholistic approach than simply saying unscrew this, desolder that, etc. For this repair, I would check the air damper on the bottom of the mirror box. There is a rubber piece inside it and if it goes bad it will affect both the flip up and flip down speed of the mirror.
@@samgustafson308 Im glad you enjoyed the video! As soon as I had finished recording, I pretty quickly identified the damper as the culprit. The lubricant inside was very sticky and definitely the cause of the slow mirror. Now the camera is in service and one of my daily drivers. Funny enough, it was the first ME Super I've serviced that had that problem, most others just have stuck mirrors!
Very interesting video. Well done! Any plans to repair Pentax MX? I've managed to free up the mirror but the shutter curtains aren't running well and I'm stumped.
@@paulasmith4017 Thank you! I've done a quick lube job for an MX before, but not a full disassembly yet. Being fully mechanical, the MX is pretty much completely serviceable whereas the ME Super, once the electronics are fried, can then really only be used for parts. The mirror mechanisms are similar for both cameras, but I'd have to see yours to diagnose.
@@frei_kugel Thanks for reply. I'm waiting on a soldering iron to arrive... I'm going in! I'll let you know how I get on. :-)
@@paulasmith4017 Please do, and let me know if there's anything you might need help with.
Great job pal! thanks for posting this is very helpful and informative indeed!!! I just subscribed to your channel!
Thank you for subscribing! I'm glad the video was helpful to you.
Ps I know this must take a lot of your time, but hopefully its rewarded.
Probably the best described, assessed, filmed and overall informative video on this camera and its common issue on youtube and I’ve watched a lot, Romping Bronco is the worst, its not that he doesn’t know or cant sort, its just so long winded and he forgets what he’s called the video, so you get half a job badly presented and poorly filmed. So congratulations and i look forward to other pentax fixes, one that is not covered anywhere really is shutter curtain replacement on spotmatics, especially Sa1 or Ha1 or any spotmatics that the problem fix would save many of these gems. Thank You.
Thank you very much for your kind words and feedback! It's very rewarding to know my videos are helpful to people and that they provide information that some other youtubers don't include. I appreciate the request regarding Spotmatics. I actually have a Spotmatic with a misaligned curtain, so I will plan on filming a video which details replacing the shutter on that camera. 😁

Nice, distraction-free video with the right amount of detail!
Thank you! I'm glad you like the format. I hope to keep things this way moving forward!
Thank you! I need this to glue the illuminating window back into place😅

Hey, thx so much for your video. I just bought a Super A and unfortunately, one of the 2 shutter speed buttons was no working consistently so I decided to open the top. Everything went well, I cleaned the little push button with isopropyl alcohol and it's now working just fine. But then when I wanted to put everything back I figured something was not going well with the mode dial, I only put back the super tiny spring but I was struggling understanding how mechanically it was working with just a spring... and I was right when I found your video, the ball bearing was not there. The problem is, I have no idea if it felt or if it's still inside. Do you pick up the ball using the biggest hole ? There are several other but smaller. I see it's not easy to make it go out, is there a chance it did not go out ?!! :D Do you have a schematic so I can understand how to put back the ball? If I lost it, what is the diameter so I can by one. THXXXX !
I'm glad my video was helpful! Those little ball bearings are a real pain, but I've since found that if you set the mode dial to "lock" before you remove it, the ball bearing gets locked into place and won't fall out. I wish I had figured it out before making this video, but so alas.... The ball bearing is 1.5mm in diameter; I bought a pack of 100 a while back because they are incredibly common in lenses too. Sometimes 1mm bearing balls are used, but I'm quite sure this one is 1.5mm.
@@frei_kugel thx for your answer, I chedk twice carefully, and if I understand well, the bearing ball has to stand on the spring, both must be put in the small cylinder bellow the dial right? The annoying thing is that I did not even noticed there was a bearingball, I tried many times to check if it was stuck in the camera or still in the cylinder but it seems that not, but I can not be sure...May be it just jumped when I turned the dial and switch to Auto mode. Anyway, I just ordered few 1.5mm balls, hope that will do it.
@@bdjn266 Correct, the bearing ball must be placed on top of the spring and pressed into place by the grey plastic piece in the mode selection knob. If the ball is missing, the selector knob will not detent the ball properly, and you won't have that helpful "click" between modes when you turn the knob. I hope you get it working again; feel free to reach out if you need any more help.
Absolute legend! Thank you so very much! Finally found the other person on the internet with this issue
