My friend and I found this aircraft back in 1972 when we were diving in the channel. We were members of the Dover sub aqua club at the time, and reported finding the Dornier but nothing at that time was done about it. When we first dived and found it, it was in pretty good condition then, sitting almost complete.

As a paratrooper , it was a luxury to fly to Bermuda on a V.C.10 . An exchange visit with the islands' Regt. Defence Force .

I worked there and pulled many night shifts and even went on a few night patrols with my colleagues of the RAF police. I can safely say I never encountered any ghosts or uneasy moments while walking through the dark corridors of RAF Scampton.

Spent 7 years flying around the world as RAF cabin crew on 10 Sqn VC10s in the 1980s and 1990s. Wouldn't change a thing. Miss them days!

Another one of a kind German plane that was found and restored was a Condor airplane. It was located at the bottom of a fjord at the Norway, and removed, approximately twenty years ago. It is the last known Condor airplane on existence.

The record from UK to Perth could be broken by any jetliner of the day, like a B707. It was that no one tried. Today Qantas flies that route with +300 passengers well under 16 hours in a B787, beating this record. If the VC10 is still listed as a record holder it is only because no one applied. The myth the VC10 was super fast is not true, it was a jet, with middle of the pack speed of early jets.

so, there are NO other Do17's in existence....anywhere.....I find that hard to believe....not any in any museums, or in pieces in a barn somewhere? if that's true, THAT is a sin......
