I am a kilnformed glass artist, teacher and shop owner from East Greenwich, Rhode Island. I am a certified art educator and artist. I love to experiment in glass and use the medium as a way of showing a scene, building a memory or simply explore different ideas and techniques. Although I'm not a scientist, I've learned about fusing by experimenting and playing with the materials. I'd like to use this channel to show artists and non-artist the varying ways that fusing glass can be part of their exploration in creativity.

Construction of a Fused Glass Panel by Alice Benvie Gebhart

The title of this landscape is Harmony. The size: 11" x 11" and it is hung using a hidden stand-off system. The process of cutting and fitting the glass pieces together is shown although the thought process and sketches that led up to that step have not. I also didn't film the firing stages and layering that was done. Silver foil was encased in the glass and the finished piece has gold overglaz...

Two artists collaborate in this video. Jane Rollins is a lettering artist and I, Alice Benvie Gebhart am a kiln formed glass artist. We have worked together before and decided to share our process while implementing this piece. Jane's airy and sweeping calligraphy lends itself to that of poetry and lyrics, especially the lyrics of this Beatles song: Black Bird Fly. We discussed the placement of...

Absolutely beautiful and the music is beautiful also.😊❤
I like your choice of music
Do design down and you can lose all the gap in the joint lines. In other words, clear glass on top to fire.
What paint do you use for glass? Before I invest in a brand of paint, I’d like to know what you would recommend.
Really cute.
THE ARE SO CUTE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
U DO BEAUTIFUL WORK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
LOVE THEM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Love the birds! How did you stencil? Did you use enamel? Versa mark? All I get is a stencil powder blob!😞
Love how this turned out
Can you tell us what brand of blade do you use in your wet saw?
Results blade bought from Hisglassworks in Ashville.
VERY NICE, THANKS SO MUCH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks so much for the demo
Wow!! Beautiful!!
thanks
A lovely piece but you have not shown so many part the video .
I know. Sorry. I just am not great about that yet. Im working on it

Very nice completed piece. You did not show us the real part.
Sorry
I'm learning Premierepro and am trying to get better with the video end of all this. Be kind with me and I promise to be better.
I love how you work...very fluid.
thank you. Even with the bad cuts?
Love these so much❤
Where do you get your garden stakes?
can you please give us the name of tune playing...its just as awesome as your glass piece LOVE IT ALL
lol, thanks. I'm not sure of the title, I took it off of a roster of tunes.
Stunning!
Thanks
❤❤❤❤❤❤
Absolutely lovely. Can I ask about the hardware? Looks like a standoff, but it doesn't go through to the front.
The stand off is glued.
@@glassartist.teacher Thank you, sometimes the most common sense answers can be elusive, lol
Yes, its from Hangyourglass.com
Beautiful!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
thank you
I love this!! And thank you for sharing your glass knowledge!
Stunning piece of wrk. Can you tell me what you were using glue gun for? Thanks
I am gluing the clear glass strips around the end of the base glass to make a "glass tray". I put all the sheet glass, frit and powder in the tray, dam and fire. The sides of the tray hols it all together so it doesn't spill out.
Wow!!!! Love this!!!! Thank you!!!!
So cute!!!!!!! Thank you for sharing. You could hold the pieces in place with Elmer's school glue.
How cute!!!! Thanks again for taking the time to show me your process. Why the clove oil in the enamel? Do you always add clove oil to your enamels? Also, where do you buy clove oil?
You can use peppermint oil also. I use oil so the enamel stays wet and doesn't dry out.
OMG! I love that. Thanks so much for showing me your process. Your bowls are gorgeous! Simple but beautiful. Kathie from Mexico 🐢
thank you so much
Nice! I wish you would've shown the back where the tea candle sits.
Very Nice!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks! Really cute idea! What is the tool you are using to put the tabs in the back of the frame?
Its a framing tool. Not sure of the name, sorry.
Amazing and beautiful!!!
