Q filter Video

Wilde Pickups by Bill Lawrence Becky and Shannon Q-filter -for Guitar or Bass We said we would mention only way to use the filter, but we mentioned 3! Q-tone, push pull, and how Bill’s Jimi Hendrix wiring’s middle position works like a q-filter, for studio like sound on stage.
Just got my new L500R this morning to pair with an L500XL I’ve had for around 15 years. Just need to decide what to put them in!
Pickup height suggestion? Coz i find it when using Bill's pickup height suggestion (which 2 mm on the treble side and 4 mm on the bass side) sounded thin and lack of bass, but i really love the pickup clarit
Thank you guys so much for what you're doing. You're keeping so much history alive and that's just so amazing to me!
Any info on the old L-250 strat/Joe Perry style pickups? Love to see a video on them!
I’m thinking about grabbing an L500XL.
We are guitar builders from Mexico, we want to design our own pickups of course by Lawrence is there an email I can reach you at?
Ma Am, do you still manufacture the acoustic guitar pick up?
this is BEST humbucker for heavy music available on the planet.
Good stuff ladies
One of the most interesting stories regarding the L500 pickups…I’d read an earlier interview with Nuno Bettencourt where he had built his very first guitar with parts purchased from Stewart MacDonald. He stated that he used the L500-L pickup. Years later, I learn that the N4 comes stock with the L500-XL, and that it is the -XL variant that he uses. I couldn’t figure out for the life of me where the confusion came it. It very well could be that he just misstated the model. Then I read about how the L510 series came about. Originally, the L500 family only had two models, the L500-R and the L500-L. Ronnie Montrose, around 1980, requested for Bill to make lower output versions of the L500 pickups. So Bill delivered as requested, and assigned them their own model numbers, the L510-R and the L510-L. However, people stuck with the L500’s as they didn’t realize the L510’s were the same exact pickups, just with lower output. After a year, to avoid confusion, Bill decided to merge the L510’s into the L500 family. The L510-R became the L500-C (for “clean”), while the L510-L became the L500-L. What was originally the L500-L became the L500-XL. Nuno’s first L500-L predated all of this. Thus, his pickup would have been known as an L500-L when he originally purchased it. But spec-wise, is identical to the L500-XL, which is the original "pre-510" L500-L.
I have a Wild Bill 'n' Beckys L500L in a Charvel 88 with an '84 Floyd. Most expressive guitar I've owned. Harmonics on every fret. The pickup is incredible, great string separation, so rich and toneful but can blow you away in high gain stuff. Outstanding sound, thanks!
So cool!!
Parabéns pelo lindo trabalho 💐
You guys are so lovable! Shannon is so fine! ♥
Hermoso y delicado trabajo. Muy profesional. Ni hablar del sonido….👍🏻🤙🏻🤟🏻🔥🔥🔥
I have two single coil Bill Lawrence pickups I bought in the late 80s. I put them in one of my guitars back then and they are the best single coils. I will be buying some L500's for a couple guitars.
My first guitar was a 1978 Harmony VA-800 Phantom, from a J.C. Penny catalog. Still got it. It came stock with L500. Really fun guitar!
What's the resistance of the L90 pickup?
I just ordered a l500xl to replace a BKP Holy Diver in the bridge.
And it’s absolutely amazing! One of my favorites of all-time.
Hi there.I have one question about your L-500 pickups. What kind of magnet do you use to make them?
It's good to see you folks are still doing well after all these years.
I have an L-500XL in my Guild. Ive had it since 1985. Best pickup Ive ever owned. Also, I used to have a Gibson Marauder in the late 70s/early 80s which was stocked with Bill Lawrence pickups. Sounded really nice.
Kerry King of Slayer used to play these. Before the horrible EMGs.
I installed the Bass Filter to compliment the P46 pickup on a 5-string. With series/parallel on the volume push/pull pot, and tone cap/Filter on the tone push/pull pot, I dont think it gets more versatile than that! PS. I'm a bit envious of those microcoils. It'd be really nice to have adjustable poles on my jazz bass!
Just got a prs with l500 mever even heard of them before . And they are actually amazing. Cheaper price Expensive sound highly suggest. And dime used them!!!
I own a 500L i bought 15 years ago for a japanese Burny. I like the clarity and articulation even with tons of gain.
I love Bill's bass pickups. I have 3 original EB 50, a set of J45s and a P46.
which one to match with 2 strat microcoils?
The standard q filter wiring bill came up with is good, but they also work in mid boost circuits where they are in either series or parallel with the signal path rather than to ground. Very versatile little device that conserves cavity space. Love it
Are they significantly taller than standard strat pickups?
Hey what are the default resistor and capacity values for both the guitar and bass versions? I have the Q-Filters, but I've misplaced the resistors and capacitors. Thanks!
Love these bass pickups
I prefer the L501. It's one better
Just came across the series of videos…. and I find these SO Wonderful….. I’m currently in this SSS rabbit hole so it’s such a great pleasure while at the same time so informative. GBYG….
I have a strat that I want to modify to have a humbucker with a single coil kill switch in the bridge position. I'm a huge fan of the twin blade series. They just scream Bill & Becky Wilde! Which twin blade pickups would you suggest for all 3 positions(TB humucker bridge, tb single coil middle, tb single coil neck), that have the closest strat sound?
I am a huge fan and owner of a few sets of Bill's pickups, and wanted to say that I reaaly like the L-280-290 sets, but absolutely love the l-200 in the neck and middle position on a strat! Sweet but not shrill top end, with excellent clarity and definition and it really has a wonderful sound even under heavy distortion. I hybrid pick a lot and having the polepieces flush to the top of the pickup allows me to really dig in withut the fear of snagging my nails! If you are looking for a pickup that can get you close to the "Gretchen Tone" of Ty Tabor, look no further! Thanks Becky and Shannon!
You ladies are Wilde! Love your work.
What is the difference between the l90 and the l500 pickups? I have a l500xl, so I am familiar with that pickup.
Very endearing video! I have a Bill Lawrence, but I am completely unaware of its ideal position, neck or brigde, I don't know where to install it. Unlike other pickups where they come with a mark that says neck or brigde, this one only has no indication. I am intrigued and confused! where do i install it?
Have a vintage L500XL that I paid a pretty penny for ,, my fav pickup by far
I have a L500XL pickup '83. This is my favorite pickup ever! amazing sound to it! Greetings from Moscow, Russia!
I would love to know more about the q filter option on bass guitar
Dang I was about to ask again
I am planning on ordering some pickups xl500 and l500 for a doom and jazz setup I just need to confirm that the ladies are still in business I have called Shannon and left a message I truly hope they are still in business I have heard nothing but high praise and am excited to have an actual real set of Bill’s pickups
Still considering the tele pickup?
Sorry guys, please excuse my ignorance. But why are there 2 websites, and 2 different versions of the L500XL pickup?
Bill Lawrence left the company he founded in 1984, and his business parter bought the Trademark to "Bill Lawrence", and then renamed the company "Bill Lawrence USA" and continued using Bill's designs. "Wilde" is Bill's own company he and his wife started, after he left AKA the real Bill Lawrence pickups. Bill Lawrence USA has disclaimers on everything saying they have no affiliation with Bill Lawrence.
Finally, I e been trying to research and learn more about the bill Lawrence pickups but there's not much out there. Thank you
I could listen to Becky and Shannon talk guitars all day!❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
I have an original l-500 and you can boost em and they sound so killer! Your pick ups blow alot of pickups out the water! 💦 The clarity and clean sounds are the best and will be purchasing from ya folks!
I have a 2009 fender telecaster I must say it is the cleanest of all my guitars
