Interviewing the mysterious 12-year old behind POWER COMICS '69!
Просмотров 1,1 тыс.Год назад
Last month our minds were blown to smithereens with the discovery of POWER COMICS (1969), an extremely rare one-shot relic that not only inspired our name, but also perfectly forecasted the DIY comic aesthetics we champion on this channel. In the days following this momentus revelation, we located POWER COMICS artist Curt Shoultz who illustrated portions of this comic 54 years ago and invited h...

I hope you didn't really throw those rejected books in the literal trash. They should still be out there for us to snatch and read.
These are all cool books. I'd consider them all power comics, or at least Outlaw comics. I had a couple of stories published in Millers Trial Run comics.
how much is this comic worth
Great interview. I was first introduced to Landgrafs work many ears ago when I started finding a few issues of NYCO in the dollar boxes. Great stuff. I did an episode one my channel about the outlaws andd he even saw it and commented. I hope to get the collection in the near future.
hi does anyone have thjs version i prefer this version of superman 3 that came out 2020
Wow, 30 copies of Jontar #1? I've never even seen one before. But I've got the Jontar collection.
Nice books
That was fun to watch, congrats Steven!
Thanks for letting me unbox these live with you, Evan! Still in shock that we made Jontar history!
WILD!!! 👍
I'm very sad about this
Wow. 30 copies of JONTAR. That's incredible.
Is JONTAR the greatest Power Comic ever created?
They don't call it the Citizen Kane of power comics for nothing
Best thing about the internet is stuff like this thank you guys this was a great interview
Great book. Hope you find the other issues of Rip Carter
Great video with lots of helpful info! I came here via a Reddit post today from a user saying they have a copy from their dad's collection.
This man is incredible, it's crazy those comics weren't successful at the time -- as a kid in the 80s, that's exactly what I wanted from a comic book! I'm a bit sad to see that the story seems to have ended here? No reprints of Phoenix / Delta Squadron, no uploads of the full movies, etc.?
Sorry guys, but have to disagree with your consensus #12 and go with my favorite GA cover - Human Torch #12 and the melting flesh. The damsel in distress isn’t wearing the typical red dress but she is a redhead.
My copy of New York City Outlaws has finally arrived at my small town book store! It ain't easy getting power comics here but I'm looking forward to it and I'm sure it'll be worth it!
Larry Fuller is a well capable storyteller. With an editor he would have been a top creator
Loved it! You guys didn’t mention Roly-poly #14/ manhunt #14 & fight against crime #20 - other than that, we hit most of the same books. We have excellent tastes! 😂
Some of the art at moments reminds me of the Jack Chick tracts.
Great information to find and I appreciate.Hopefully we can connect with you in near future. We are an up and coming comics group with our own line of Midwestern independent books .We are assisting and working with a group in nigeria and phillipines .Our first event will be in the Midwest in May and August of next year.We hope to have you check our book releases and critique our work.We appreciate all work you've showcased.Thank you.
22:37 The weird orange guy looks like a Cruelty Squad character.
😌
I know the works of Grass Green but haven't read Larry Fuller yet. Looks like they were contemporaries. I'll need to flip back through my Greens and see if any Fuller is worked in.
Awesome video, guys! I have Larry Fuller's 'The New Funny Book' issue 3 (of 3), and covered a bit of Mr. Fuller's bio myself on my own RUclips channel a few years ago.
Mom look, They found another POWER COMIC to talk about!
Glad i stumbled onto this through the algorithm. One of your other videos made me think "This seems like some Ben Marra stuff". Lo and behold, this earlier vid has Ben Marra. Definitely subscribed.
Please tell me that you’re close to signing a deal with André Poliquin.
Great show guys! Good to see the band back together. This book is amazing, a new grail.
At least a couple of the earliest head shop undergrounds were superhero comics, Wonder Wart Hog & Captain Guts.
So glad to have y'all back! And, such a great book to return with!
Loved this episode new sub !
Without having a copy of the "tabloid" version myself to compare with, it sounds like it is simply untrimmed.
I have this! One of the few comics I own that survived a fire that destroyed my collection of decades.
Man i would love to have a copy
I have a copy and my guy has at least 10 copies of this book (he covets this book as do many others). There was a issue #2 that never came out but we found the printing plate for it and gifted it to the creator of the book Mr Larry fuller
Oh wow!
The underground comix are fantastic. Very good job fellas 💪
@35:00 Jom is a Nytame!
Welcome back dudes! I’ve been waiting semi patiently for a new video.
Believe it or not, I bought that book for $20 and traded it once I found out how much it was worth!
Another video within a month? Jk we cool, life takes over sometimes. Love POWER COMICS
Glad to have you back! Always a pleasure! #landgraf forever!
Love the video
I imagine the dude who graded these comics just finished a stack of hulk 181’s and said “da fudge is this?” Combed through each page of each book and then said “these comics are super rad.”
Hearing those opening theme bars really got the juices going!
🤘🏻
Hi guys - There were 3 issues of Rip Carter and one issue of Headstone, produced between late 1972-early 1973. I was 15 years old at the time. Jon Haines was sort of the "publisher", a friend who suggested I come up with a "Flash Gordon" type series that could be printed in the printshop class at our high school. He was the one who was responsible for taking my pages and guiding them through that process (I wasn't in that class). I don't remember how many copies of each issue were printed, but they ended up being sold not only on campus, but also at local liquor stores and bookshops. The wonky first three pages of Rip Carter #2 were inked by a friend as a kind of audition that failed. I'm surprised no copy of Rip Carter #3 was visible here, since that was the issue you'd found that led you to contacting me in 2018. Hope it's safe and sound somewhere in your collection. Thanks for the enthusiastic response to my teenage efforts. I never imagined there would be an audience for these so far in the distant future. As Rip himself says (BTW, the name "Rip" is a reference to Rip Van Winkle), "In the end, time makes heroes of us all." P.S. - I never traced, but did occasionally swipe!
Glad to see you back!
