If you use a calculator, you don't have the option to put in the logarithm's base, so you need to divide log (b) by log (a) to get x (I'm not sure but I think that's the method)

Even easier, 3^(ln x) = e^(ln 3 * ln x) = x^(ln 3). Then you can just use the power rule!
