Temu Leo Jaymz Tele Kit
Просмотров 53314 дней назад
Bought this guitar kit off Temu. Just to see what they are about. The guitar body and neck are not bad at all.The electronics and hardware of course are sub.Par. I am gonna add my own electronics and hardware. I am also going to contour the body and probably put a satin finish on the neck and back of the guitar. But put a nice nitro finish on the top and headstock..

Update SC-450 P90 Damage claim with Thomann
Просмотров 2 тыс.2 года назад
Well it took some days back-and-forth emails they tried to offer me $30 at first which I declined I got them to give me $100 back which I feel still really wasn’t fair. Unfortunately I will never order another Harley Benton guitar. Not to say I wouldn’t buy one if I could put my hands on it first like a local purchase
Harley Benton SC-450 P90 GT Update

I stopped yesterday’s video because signs of damage. I noticed the box upon opening was damaged it didn’t look like the guitar was damaged at first but upon further inspection I noticed the bridge was broke three way switch was damaged and if you hold it in the right light it looks like the whole arch top is spiderweb with cracks. I wanted to stop the video and reach out to Thomann. They were c...

Layla my 4 year boxer deciding if she likes Lemons.
Looks pretty cool for barebones. Hopefully when you get it together it has a beautiful sound. The tuning can be intricate with a mystery build. Good luck! Looking forward to see how it comes along. Merry Christmas.
It is definitely gonna need some new hardware. The tuners are absolute garbage, pick ups.Are slightly microphonic but the body and neck are very nice
Well you just lost one subscriber.
Hi there. Long shot, but is this still available? Cheers, John
i bought the sc450 p90 gt myself about 3 weeks ago now. and it needed a few things tweaked on it to get it set up.neck relief needed straightening, action lowered,A string nut slot needed filling for better string fit.but ive had £500+ guitars that have been unplayable out of box my epiphone LP as an example.im glad you got a $100 back but i feel your disappointment especially after it getting shipped to texas and it costing more to return it than the guitar cost.its my 3rd harley benton guitar and so far its the one thats needed the most work out of box.harley benton are great affordable guitars but they are hit and miss on QC.ive had 2 that where good out of box apart from the obvious new strings and string action to my prefered hight and the p90 gt needed a bit more work than normal
That thing was damaged in shipping. There would have been insurance on it. Always sign the delivery "Subject to Concealed Damages" and get UPS to pay the return. Don't even tell the driver you are signing it that way or they'll complain. Sucks for this one you got tho.
I just bought this guitar. I changed the tuners to Grover Deluxe is all so far. The bridge, like yours, was extremely high so I've lowered that quite a bit, but with some fret buzz now. Did you ever change out the nut on yours? The factory one looks and feels terrible to me.
I can't hear you
Hi Trav, Were you able to just swap the bridges? Where the polepieces the same distance to (I think you said Epiphone) each other?
sweet dog, she was nice to me.
Great video Travis, you earned a sub!!!
Update: I just had a problem with a Harley Benton PJ-5 Bass. I haven't been in touch with Thomman yet. Let's see what they say.
Shame, you had so many issues, I have four Harley Bentons and apart from setting them up I have had no issues. I have the same model which as you say looks great, new strings a little nut work and it plays and sounds fine. Hope you have better luck next time if you decide to deal with Thomann again.
Tohmann sucks and does not stand behind there product. I bought a guitar from them and it will be my last.
It is sad to hear that you have to go through all that before you actually can play the instrument, but between a 30 and 100 dollar refund is better than returning the instrument.I have been watching 100's of HB reviews / tests and mod. videos on youtube for over a year ! I still did not buy one as I could not decide on which one of the les paul type models and also because you need to immediately buy minimim a new nut, tuners, strings (including a fretlevel/proper setup job), it all adds up but still under the price of an Epiphone, etc. But frankly I think we have to high expectations when we talk about under 200 dollar guitars.I heard horror stories about Epiphone les pauls above 500 dollar that needed a 200-300 dollar fix to play and sound acceptable. In your case the damage was very obvious and a damage refund was in place. But also some will wonder the authenticity of all the other Harley Benton review video's out there. I will put my foot down and try a buy, but I do am prepared with upgrade parts and dissapointment standards. The SC-450 P90 looks great anyway, but should not be a hang on your wall guitar, good luck with the further modifications.
Annoying … like a girl
I'm buying one of these next week. To me it's a beautiful guitar at a great price. When I was younger I got a Marlin Sidewinder as my first ever electric. It was heavy, never stayed in tune, had fret buzz because the neck was shite but I still learnt and played on it. I would much rather the Marlin than those Encore or Axe guitars which were forever advertised in Kerrang!! I really think you must have got a rogue there. Harley Benton are a great choice for guitars and their quality is amazing compared to the guitars I grew up with. I think you are expecting too much, and that the $$$ you got back are quite generous. I think the way you refer it as a piece of garbage wall art is wrong aswell, HB are far from garbage.Just think of it as a project guitar for yourself, but don't trash HB for what is probably a rogue as i said. Best of luck with the repairs.
Does sound nice though.
Thank you I thought I was making a video the other day about all the extra work I've done to it but something went wrong with my video when I got finished it was gone. And now has a brass nut and a roller Bridge. I leveled the frets dressed and Polished them it plays 100 times better now
That's probably my Blues Junior clone with vintage hemp speaker.
Unlucky.
I have never had a problem with a Harley Benton guitar. We have reviewed many, and I pay for every guitar we review. Nobody gives us any products that we review and we have done hundreds of reviews. I believe you are having some trouble with this guitar, but it doesn't make all Harley Benton guitars bad.
We just did one of these last week. It was a "B" stock and we had zero issues with it. I believe that you are having issues, but generally Thomman is pretty good about taking care of these problems. They do have a 3 year warranty. We're in Texas as well (San Antonio). Good luck 👍
Yea never buy a HB guitar they have so many faults and most of the YT vids promoting them are sponsored, they are really terrible guitars....
That's not true....I've got three HB's with no issues at all....and if there should ever be an issue they'll switch them without any discussion. Things like this happen with Fender or Gibson too....I recently had a lot of trouble with a squire which was much worser than any HB I have.
Here we go again… you’re on every video bashing HB guitars like epiphone fender Gibson and other brands are flawless lol
I own two of them. They are fine. I had issues with a snapped pup switch, still works, and a broken knob, pot still works. Tightened two nuts. It played well right outs of the box. Told Thomann, got a $65 refund. All that needs replacement to get it 100% perfect cosmetically is a $8 switch from Amazon.
Most of the reviews I've seen have pointed out that for the price, you can expect to have to fix a few issues. String height/truss rod, and a few others. Twisted necks are pretty much firewood unless you have the tools to heat or steam off the neck, and even the fretboard.
Never buy a HB, they are terrible....
Every time I tried to order a Harley Benton guitar, my order keeps getting cancelled for some strange reason, and I can't understand why. Somebody told me that Thomann were going to open up a U.S. distribution center, so I'm gonna wait for that, and then try to order. I already spent a good amount of money on guitars over the summer, so I'm not really in any hurry to order any more, but I've heard good things about Harley Benton guitars, so I want to purchase some. Like I said, I'll make due with what I already have.
It seems like people are having better luck with the higher end Harley bentons
Stay away from the sc450 P90
@@travthedad305 Actually, that's one of the models I want. That, and the DC-600 VI

Ups says tools will be here tomorrow so hopefully I can do some work this weekend.
Think you got unlucky, I received a Harley Benton in the UK a 450 in fact, with a damaged bridge. I rang them and they gave me the option of money off and free replacement parts or a new guitar. I opted for a new guitar as there was also a chip in the finish due to shipping damage. Thomann arranged a free courier collection and sent a fantastic replacement.
Not being funny but it's a budget guitar.
And that was the reason I bought it is everyone on RUclips said it was a great budget guitar
I watched both of your videos and I haven't seen a single thing wrong with the guitar with my eyes. You claim there were a lot of issues, but don't show them for some reason. The tail piece was a "string cutter"? I haven't had any problems with mine and never heard anyone else complain. A fret had popped out a bit? Ok.Push it back in . The posts aren't straight?? Whut? I don't know man, I wouldn't even give you the 30 if I were Thomann.
Well it’s a good thing you don’t work in their customer care department
Mine is fine. The rubber under the pickups does compress to allow adequate height adjustment and the tuners work ok.
Most sensible review ive ever seen. Owned a few Harley Bentons and they have all had issues. And just like you pointed out, theres no sense in buying a cheap guitar if u have to swap half the parts out and do fret jobs and such.
My SC-500 WH was great.
Looks like it’s going to take much longer to get the tools then it took to get the guitar
and skip their HB series that are made in china (sometimes you get lucky, sometimes you dun), go only for those made in indonesia. They are done by Cort at least.
They really need to inspect guitars before sending. I think they do, so they should fire the guy for not taking his inspection job seriously before shipping.
quality control is one of the most expensive parts of guitar manufacturing so if they added that, the guitars would cost alot more. They sell cheap guitars made of cheap parts, adding QC and setup/adjustments to it would put them at a price that would be ther same as the competition.
@@bitterbitterbitter i meant the person who sign off, who is just rubber stamping for the sake of signing off at Thomann. 🤣
Beautiful guitar. I just liked and subscribed.
Cost me $500 to fix the frets on my Harley Benton... worst guitars ever...
Holy crap
Living in the UK makes it easier to return bad samples of Harley Bentons when you can get Thomann to pay the return costs with a prepaid label. I returned 3 samples of a CST24T, they all had issues that were not acceptable on any guitar. After the 3rd sample i had had enough, Thomann refused to send any more, so i opted for a refund. It's just not worth the hassle and risks involved buying entry level guiatars by mail order. You can't beat seeing and playing a guitar before hading over your hard earned cash.
I had a similar experience with a Harley Benton TE-90QM. While the neck isn't warped, the fretwork is so bad, 2 luthiers said the cheapest option is to do a refret. Maybe I got a lemon, but I don't understand where all the 5 star reviews come from. The cheap price does not matter if it is impossible to get the guitar to play with a basic setup and maybe some fretwork. Not to say that you can't get a good guitar at this price point, but go to your local dealer and try out some guitars. I've picked up some of the entry level Ibanez stuff and the new Yamaha Pacificas and have really enjoyed playing them.
I feel they used RUclipsrs to market them and then just dumped crap on everybody else
I would enjoy the process of repair and add to the opinion pool about Thomann guitars. I think you should probably should have gotten at least $500. compensation from them. Take it to a luthier and get a written. estimate from him or her and send a copy to Thomann.
Sir, this guitar retails at 149€ in Germany - with the current currency discrepancy even less $. Shipping is probably expensive BUT shipping single guitars over continents is always a risky business - none the less I hope everybody finds a satisfying solution! 👍🏻
Tools are on the way. So hopefully I will have something going by the weekend
To orange county california its $189 If you skip Starbucks 5 days a week thats pretty much covered in a month. :) $30 is a reasonable refund at that price point. You made out on $100. Can't you remove the post, fill the hole and reinstall a new one? Thats what I would risk on a guitar you got for around $100 all said and done. All that blabering aside, paying $200 for a guitar, it should be playable these days. A $400 squire is amazing out of the box. I would have gone that route and bought a used Epiphone.
No I understand that I play a Gretsch Electromatic. I bought this guitar because of all the reviews on RUclips
I saw the twist..If you would like to start a petition, I would sign it.
Please comment with your experience if you’ve bought from them
I have quite a few and none ever were a problem, even my B stock. As for the foam under the pups a lot more guitars are coming w/ those, even my Ibanez Prestige had that.. if you screw down the pups to lower them, they'll still lower, it'll compress the foam, it's there to keep them stable and straight. Ever notice how especially direct mounted pups will kinda lean or be tilted a bit.. The Foam helps keep them straight. As for the Bridge posts not being straight, they're angled on purpose, i've never had a les paul style guitar that wasn't angled And I have like 7 of them right now. My only I won't even say complaint cause these are coming from across the world, is the dryness of the fretboards. But a little F one oil and they're great. I've never had fret sprout on any except on my cheapy acoustic from HB.
If anyone would like to watch a video of me repairing it after I get all the tools please let me know
I’d watch a video of you returning the guitar at your cost, regardless. Pursue for reimbursement.
Posting an update later today.
