I have these EVERYWHERE. They're not that easy to clean. Lubrication never seriously occured to me! Cleaning one took about a half hour. And they're fragile, too. But during seriously heavy storms, NO water leaked in w them about half open

Great video for restoring use of these old jalousie style windows! They were installed in so many houses and apartment porches in the 60's and 70's and usually just need some basic tlc and lube to get them back in working order.

Good to know, thanks for the video! Just moved into a mid 50s home with a jalousie front door (Winnipeg, Canada) and I want to get the stiff mechanism back into good working order.

Your video was exactly what I needed! Thanks, you helped save my window. I was about to replace the window, but a single can of WD40 saved me a lot of money! Thanks again. 😀

Great video and thanks very much for the step by step instruction. I have a question. Would you recommend using something like "Dry Lube" on any moving parts before closing them up? I understand these lubricate while not attracting dust, etc. Thank you!

Thank you very much for making this video! I was cleaning my windows then they wouldn’t shut. I did exactly as you said and it worked. Took about 20 minutes but it worked. I was so proud of myself as the parts were super rusty. You made it seem so easy and it was. You went through every little step. Mahalo again sir!

Great Video.Informative and step by step process. my only thing was when you'd mention using WD-40 is lubrication. It is not reccomended to tu used as such, it's a penatrating spray. Part you spray will move on immediate use, but will rust back up soon cause it's not for lubrication.

Hey, could you make a video on how to replace one of the pieces of glass? That would be really helpful. Many thanks.

Thanks! I love your video. It’s like talking to a friend not one of these snappy videos where they talk so fast you have to keep rewinding. You go through every step which is great. I think that WD-40 should sponsor you though! Thanks so much.

What an excellent tutorial! I’m living in our family home (built in 1951), and I’ve been so frustrated because most of the windows cannot open. Now I’m confident that I’ll be able to get them open again. I’m going to go for it this week and hopefully I’ll have a sweet breeze coming in again for my 60th next Sunday. Happy Birthday to me. Lol. Thank you so much!

This video saved me a lot of money just using WD-40. I missed one spot on the louver pivots before I found this video. Next I’ll remove & replace if necessary the crank body/operators on windows that are still stuck.

I am glad my video helped you. I was about ready to replace my stuck jalousies, but I fiddled around with them until I found a method to fix them. If the cranks aren't working you will have to replace them. I found crank replacements in local hardware stores. Make certain the hole spacing is the same. Amazon usually has a better selection and cheaper prices.

Aloha! I loved the video! Thank you for the info! I have a question--several of my cranks are not working properly. I turn them and instead of the window opening or closing, it simply unscrews altogether without actually opening or closing the window. How do I fix this?
