    I would watch a colouring video. Love the way you did the flowers. I haven't been doing much colouring at the moment, doing more cross stitch. I like the sound of Dark Persuasion, I do quite like psychological books that have social history with it. I think cosy mysteries are named such because the sleuth is an amateur. Like the sound of the cosy you read. Great to have you back making videos.

    For me, I'd usually ignore the writings in books, BUT it's so hypocritical when a library let's a person get away with writing in books if we're not allowed to write in them. My other rant is the study room use times scheduled. It's pain to try to get a study room for me, either electronically or on paper, study rooms getting filled. And checking out books online is a pain to me too.

    😂 My favorite part about this discussion is always that it is always about 1-3 star reviews and how they are harmful to the author and blablabla but never address the amount of 5 star reviews. Those are just as bad and honestly, if you rely on stars only you deserve the books you get to read. So true (started typing before you addressed the 5* topics as well.)

  • @TheJellicle1
    @TheJellicle1 Год назад

    Agree 100% with your points. Also, I have been told by an author in regards to amazon reviews, any review is better than no review. The more traffic a book gets the more the algorithm will promote it and it doesn't necessarily matter what the actual rating is. For myself, I like to read a few one star reviews when I am deciding on a book. Positive or negative, when the reviewer is specific about their likes and dislikes I get a very good feel for whether the book is for me or not. So quality matters way more than the actual star rating.

  • @readsandeats2263

    Great video. I am going to read this article - yes we as humans are decearnable and can make decisions about whether we want to read a book and if reviews are B****S*** we can also decide whether we want to read the book. I am fortunate if I give a 5* review once every 2 months. This month so far I have had a DNF and the book I am reading at the moment is probably going to be a 2* if lucky. We should definitley do a live show, where we have a cuppa and chat various bookish things.

    You and I should be best friends. You described my feelings about this book perfectly. I dnf’d at page 163. That was over a month ago and I’m still angry about this book. It felt like the author was trying to shock and provoke, like a 4 year old shouting out “knickers”. It was immature and icky. Also, I was promised murders and by page 163 they were all alive and irritating. I cannot wash the ick of this book off me. It’s the worst book I’ve ever read. The WW2 thing was ridiculous and made me furious.
