Great discussion y’all. Love both teams! Live in Texas, went to Georgia. I don’t have much to add. Officiating has been a problem this season more than any I can remember, but at the same time, there were several opportunities for Texas to deal the death blow and something just felt off. Having watched all the Texas games this season, there’s this flushed look on Quinn’s face he’s only really had when playing Georgia. Something psychological going on there. Also, I’m still surprised Arch didn’t play more. It made me feel like the coaches let their great intuition go in favor of over-analyzing and overthinking. It gave the entire game this strange vibe I felt. It felt like 2 teams in completely different mindsets.

Had to cheat to “win”. I am not sure the next set of officials will help unless you pay them off too.

Good analysis. Texas should have won this game. You know the story. You can't let a good team hang around or they will find a way to beat you. You have to score TDs in the red zone. FGs will not allow you to beat a good team. Georgia's offense was trash in the 1st half, but the defensive strategy was to stop the run and make Texas one dimensional and play cover 2 defense which leaves you vulnerable to the underneath passes, but prevents (in theory) the explosive pass play, so they gave up yards between the 20's and clamped down inside the 20's. That is one reason for the yardage disparity though Texas surely earned it and should have capitalized better. The missed FGs were also deadly. One more FG made and the game would have been over in regulation. On the penalties, Sark needs to clean that up. Most were the type you can't ignore (off sides, hands to face knocking the helmet off, PI, etc.) There may have been a disparity in the number of penalties, but none (or almost none) were bad calls. In the first game in Austin, Texas got 9 first downs by penalty. Texas is a great program and is going to get better and better. Clemson will be a good test. They might be the only team in the ACC that really plays like an SEC team. Take care of business and you have a shot at third times the charm.

As an LSU fan, I could’ve told you this before the year started

Arkansas threw up a 3 deep safety fly-over defense so Sark had to decide either to risk turnovers by throwing into heavy coverage, or tone it down and lean on the running game. He chose the latter, leading to Quinn having ZERO TURNOVERS in the game. The rb’s averaged 4.5 ypc which was enough to win by double digits when our defense came to play and Sark saw that they’d hold Arkansas to historical lows. Arkansas hadn’t been shut out the whole first half like that this year until Texas came to town. Texas held them to half their season average of offensive yards. It’s complementary football. When your D is doing that, you can take less risks on offense throwing into triple deep safeties. It might not look as pretty to casual fans who want to see deep ball td’s, but that’s why Sark is getting paid the big $’s to make the decisions. 🤘🏼
