    Hi very random question but when you deregistered your children what happens when the LA contacts you? And what do you show them etc very sorry have been deciding to home educate for over year now just have to take the leap which I’m excited for Thankyou for the advice in advance 😊

    • @Hollywyatt
      @Hollywyatt 4 года назад

      Elisha Kuwale hey it’s not random at all! I’ve seen a few different ways people approach contact from LA. When we initially began and they contacted me I said to them that I would need some time to settle in before I was happy to meet with them. They were fine with it. I just had to fill out a form for each child saying a bit about my plans & approach to HE. Last year the LA came to my house to meet & she was really nice a quite helpful & this year my review meeting was cancelled due to coronavirus so I’ve just emailed our review forms to her. They like it if you’ve got some work you can show them or records of what you’ve been up to. I don’t keep records because at the moment we are doing more unstructured learning & the LA has been fine with that. Some people are very anti seeing LA because some of them can be quite pushy & not understanding individual styles of HE, or wanting to exactly replicate school at home. The beauty of HE is it can be individually tailored to your child’s learning style & they can learn as much in a couple of hours with you as would in 6 hours at school. Our LA has been really great 👍🏻 but also good to note that they don’t always know everything that is available to your child so really good idea to join HE Facebook groups & get plugged in a bit with your local HE community. Hope that helps xx

      Hi, I did the opposite. When they contacted me (5 years later) I basically told them to get lost, that I wouldnt be conforming to their legislation. It is not law for you to do as they ask, you are free to ignore them. The reason for my hostility towards them, is that, when my daughter was having trouble in school and couldn't settle I asked them numerous times for help. They did nothing but threaten me with fines for none attendance. Yet the minute I withdrew her they suddenly became 'interested' in her education.

    Is there a certain amount of hours that you have to study per day eg 3/4 hours per day? Also can you teach any time of the day? Can it be in the evenings? I'm a single mum so some days I need to go work part time eg weekends but what do mums do for money to afford teaching at home xxxxx

    • @Hollywyatt
      @Hollywyatt 4 года назад

      Sheela Abedin you can set your own schedule and there is no set amount of hours that you have to do. The important thing is that your child is engaged with learning..it doesn’t have to replicate school. I’m not having to go out to work so it’s probably worth you joining a couple of home Ed Facebook groups and asking about how other single parents home Ed. It is possible but it’s definitely better to find out how from those who are doing it. Thanks so much for your comment ❤️ it all seems very daunting at first but keep researching and asking questions and you’ll soon know whether it’s right for you xxxx

    • @Hollywyatt
      @Hollywyatt 4 года назад

      Cristina Dumitru hi 👋🏼 at 3 yrs children learn best through play and having freedom to explore their environment. Reading to them and having conversations about the world around them and anything that interests them, playing games, opportunities to be creative etc. There are so many ways to home educate and I think it’s about finding the right flow for you and your family. Personally I think around 6/7 is a good time to begin introducing something more structured if that’s what you want to do. Having a set time of day where you do your structured work helps many people & remembering that you don’t have to replicate the school system and do 6 hours a day because home ed means you can get a lot more done in a shorter time because your daughter is getting your 1-1 support. We have been through a few different ways of home ed and it’s different for each of my children. My older son benefits from more structure where as my younger son is autistic and needs to learn in a way that he doesn’t feel under pressure so we do more ‘hidden’ learning. Just do lots of research on different ways to home ed and try out some different things until you find what works for you. ❤️

    How much does it cost to educate children?? At home.. I mean if you only work part time (uk) can u manage school ?? Plus do you have to be really educated yourself??

    • @tahliah6691
      @tahliah6691 5 лет назад

      The cost in home schooling is down to the parents theres no financial support from the government. ... it's all about dedication to your childs educational needs and future..... we have them education doesnt stop at the school gate it's a continuous process. ... home education allows you to learn along with your children.... some parents are very academic some are not.... it's as expensive as you want.. it helps that you have support eg family friends theres lots of home ed groups out there to tap into..... they do more in home education than in school. .

    • @Hollywyatt
      @Hollywyatt 5 лет назад

      Yes I totally agree with Tahnn Ju it really doesn’t have to be expensive and there are so many free/low cost resources you can use. You don’t have to be very educated yourself but just very passionate about providing learning opportunities/environment/resources to enable your child to learn. X

      @@Hollywyatt Exactly..... we also find buying an annual family rail card for £30 which holds upto 4 adults and 4 children is brilliant for doing trips up and down the country by train as it's so much cheaper, also getting home ed group bookings at the same rate as schools is essential..eg check out Kidzania London......👌

    • @tahliah6691
      @tahliah6691 5 лет назад

      That can be an issue or not..... do your family support you anyway? You will have to think about how you will earn a living and fit home ed in.... eg some work evenings or weekends....etc....I know many people who didn't let that bother them and some have family support some dont...home edding is about learning with your children and theres so many resources out there on youtube etc to help and home ed groups in your area too to join to help teach our children, get ideas and shops like The Works, the bargain sections of the supermarkets etc to get stationary etc....that has plenty of resources......we just stick to the national curriculum its easier...and beneficial to their future...👌

    Great video. I hope that you end up loving Home Education as much as we do. We found Google Classroom to be brilliant. My daughter loves it. I was lucky enough to find an English tutor who only charges £6 per week for IGCE English Lessons. She has been published by Cambridge University. My daughter is also studying ART with Cambridge University online, they have many courses. Brilliant teachers. The thing that makes me giggle about people that are anti Home Education, is that they always mention the social side. Many children have left school because of bullying kids in school? When it comes to being Social, I am very proud that my daughter will be singing in front of a crowd of people this coming November. This just proves that Home Education builds confidence! And helps children to find out what they are good at, instead of being bullied into studying things that they simply are not good at and have no interest in! butterflylullaby.blogspot.com/2018/05/melody-angel-bainbridge-todd-artsinging.html

      Home schooling is great more flexible less stress and pressure, you just need to apply yourself to work hard at achieving you gcses in maths english etc. In the UK once you have been out of school for 1 term you can go to a college or uni 6th form to start your gcses.....check this out in your area.... getting an annual family railcard for about £30 gives you massive discounts on train travel up and down the country to visit museums etc..... check out kidzania London if you can join a home ed group in your area you could organise trips to eg Kidzania a city for children to try out careers of your choice....and get the same rate as schools eg kidzania London is normally about £40 each as a group we get it for about £10 each👌we go at least 2wice a year👌 the world is your oyster....plan a bucket list of things you want to achieve in life, your goals etc, home ed doesn't have to be expensive....you can even get the AQA GCSE flash cards on Amazon cheaper or in waterstones or WHSmith.....to support your gcse subject studies...less pressure home edding....we love it....hopefully you mum allows you to...but the outcome is down to you to make it happen....you will see an education inspector if all is well at least once a year....nothing to worry about....👌

    Hi my family is going through this beginning of home schooling my older son. Does the LA send you a program for them or do we have to do that by ourselves? I’ve been searching but I’m also kind of lost. Thanks for sharing your experience.

    • @Hollywyatt
      @Hollywyatt 5 лет назад

      Hi, thanks for your comment. The LA won’t send you a program but they will probably be keen to speak to you about what you plan to do and may be able to advise on curriculum, you don’t have to see them if you don’t want to. The beauty of home educating is that it gives you the freedom to teach and learn in a more fluid way that suits your family. The LA may advise you more in the direction of creating a ‘school’ environment at home and if that’s what you want then that’s great. There are so many Facebook groups & communities out there to get ideas from too. My advice is don’t panic about it & have a little planning and settling in period, work out what’s right for you and your son. There are also some fantastic free online resources. Khan academy & Alison.com are worth checking out. Xx
